The first Erie station at Deposit, a wooden frame building, stood on the land bought from Uriah Gregory in 1849.  This burned and was replaced with this brick depot in 1861, at a cost of $10,305.  Many local citizens were outraged when Contrail in March of 1981 without any advance notice levelled this station with bulldozers.  This was a sad day for historic preservation, particularly since the Erie Railroad was started in Deposit in November of 1835.

The building in this scene was razed in 1913 for a new structure which was dedicated in 1914 and which now serves as an elementary school.  The one seen here replaced the 'Academy" building, which had been built around 1885 under the direction of Professor Nevius.
