What is the Deposit Foundation and Rural Housing Services, Inc.?
We are a non-profit corporation organized and managed by a local voluntary Board of Directors to ensure that residents of the Deposit area have access to health, human and housing services.

The Board of Directors is composed of local citizens elected at an annual meeting, and meets on regular monthly basis.

Services Provided:

Programs

Senior Companion - Provides support, transportation services to Senior Citizens with the help of volunteers who are available to shop and run errands.

Transportation - Provides non-emergency transportation for Senior Citizens and less fortunate residents to medical and other important appointments. Deposit does not have a taxi service and public transportation is very limited. A 7 passenger mini-van is available to transport out clients.
All drivers are volunteers.


Assistance & Referral - Assists residents by providing referrals to numerous human service agencies and programs not often available in Deposit. Also provides HUD section 8 applications for low income rental assistance. With the assistance of area residents, students and businesses, we conduct a "Toys for Tots" during the Christmas season.

Home/Housing Activities
Housing Management - Provides HUD section 8 application for low income rental assistance. Rents and manages a 4-unit apartment house for low to moderate income families.

Home Repair Loan - Administer a low-cost revolving loan fund for minor home improvements,for Deposit residents which was made possible by a grant from a private foundation.

How Do I Obtain Services?
You can obtain services by calling or stopping by the Deposit Foundation and Rural Housing Services, Inc. office on 119 Front Street(Dr. Knapp's Office Suite) or by calling the office on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm. If no one is in the office to answer your call, please leave your name and number and someone will contact you on the next business day.

How Do I Become A Volunteer?
The Deposit Foundation and Rural Housing Services, Inc. uses many volunteers for the Transportation Program, Senior Companions Program, Toys for Tots. If you have some free time and are interested in helping others you can become a volunteer by contacting the office for more information.
